Parenting and Child Development
​(1 semester)

Learn about the growth and development of children ages three to six by evaluating childcare settings and the practices, regulations, and opportunities in the child care industry.
Study human growth and development and the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of children ages three to six with an emphasis on the responsibilities of parenting.

Third Year

Family Studies
​( 1 semester)

Study social, emotional, and physical growth during major life stages including understanding stress,
elements in a changing self and examining personal decisions in areas such as drug use and AIDS/STDs,
​human sexuality, family life, crises, and assessing community and personal resources.

Fourth Year

Early Childhood Education Foundations
(1 year)

Obtain knowledge about the physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development of children from conception to preschool age, emphasizing the application of this knowledge in childcare settings. (Must be 16 by Sept. 1, pass a KBI background check, obtain a health physical and TB test with a negative reading, and enroll in Early Childhood Education Lab)

Early Childhood Education Lab
(1 year)

Learn work skills with children by serving as aides/caregivers and assisting with children's activities in North's Child Development Center. (Must be at least 16 by Sept. 1, pass a KBI background check, and obtain a health physical and TB test with a negative reading)
